In Ohio, license suspensions are either issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) or ordered by the court (judicial suspension).
BMV suspensions are often the result of 12 or more points on your license, failure to have insurance (FRA suspension), the immediate suspension when you’re charged with OVI (Administrative License Suspension), or failure to pay child support.
Court ordered suspensions are often the result of drunk driving (DUI or OVI), driving under suspension (DUS), endangering children, wrongful entrustment, drug, or other criminal and traffic convictions.
If you are faced with a driver’s license suspension, contact Stiefvater Law, LLC to protect your right to drive. If you are currently under a license suspension call to determine if/when you are eligible for driving privileges.
The remainder of this page outlines the different classifications of both BMV and judicial license suspensions.
