Assault is a serious charge.  In its most basic form, the charge is a first degree misdemeanor (M-1).  Depending upon the circumstances, an assault charge can also be classified as a felony of the third, fourth, or fifth degree.

Felony assault can carry a mandatory prison term.  Misdemeanor assault can carry a mandatory jail term.  Contact a criminal attorney immediately and do not speak to the police.

The Ohio Revised Code (Section 2903.13) defines the crime of assault as:

No person shall knowingly cause or attempt to cause physical harm to another or to another’s unborn.

No person shall recklessly cause serious physical harm to another or another’s unborn.

Again, if you or a loved one is facing an assault charge, contact an assault lawyer immediately.  You have rights and you are entitled to a vigorous and effective defense.
